Replacing our Hyundai Getz horn
July 10, 2007
Owners of a Hyundai Getz in the Philippines will agree with me when I say the Hyundai Getz horn sucks balls.
It’s the worst horn ever. Blech. Horns are supposed to warn other vehicles, pedestrians, or animals on the road that we’re a-comin’. When I tooted my Hyundai Getz horn, all I got were laughing jeepney drivers and the occasional shocked dog.
So I resolved to change the horn of our Hyundai Getz Philippines. I bought myself a nice loud Bosch disc horn from Ace Hardware Greenbelt (at only Php699.75) and had it installed by the friendly folks at Wheels Inc – Hyundai E. Rodriguez for a service fee of Php500 so it doesn’t ruin the electrical warranty of Gina, our Hyundai Getz Philippines.
The end result: a Hyundai Getz horn I can be proud of!

As simple as replacing the horn would really void Getz’ warranty?
That sucks big time especially since I plan to put in HID, horn, 10″ subwoofer and 16″ mags (at the very least) in my next car.

Btw, P500 service fee to install horn is daylight robbery. A better type of horn can be bought and installed in accessories stores in banawe all for no more than P800.
Rip Off. =(

I’m sorry you feel that way, Kenzo, but I respect your opinion. Replacing the horn doesn’t void the warranty; replacing the horn at a non-Hyundai dealer does. To me, that makes sense; the warranty is offered partly so that Hyundai can protect itself against slipshod work conducted by people who aren’t ‘licensed’ Hyundai mechanics. It’s only fair, and I agree with it, I, for one, have always had my stuff serviced at the appropriate service providers, whether they’re my car, my TV, my VCR, or my Macbook. Sometimes, it costs more, sometimes it costs less. At the end of the day, I sleep better because I know that it was serviced by the folks who know the product best.
Thanks for swinging by Life With Gina. I’ve moved to a different URL (http://hyundaigetz.gannsdeen.com). I hope to see you again soon.
